I would have to say the most amazing thing we saw on our cruise around Kenai Fjords National Park was the pod of Orca (also known as Killer Whales). Just like with the humpback whales we saw, the presence of the boat didn't seem to bother them at all. There was a little tail slapping by the lone male, who kept his distance from the group of females.
The females kept very close together, and surfaced as a group, blowing spray from their blowholes.
See how close they all are to one another? We watched them perform this maneuver over and over for at least half-an-hour.
I love how you can see this one's nose just beneath the surface (on the right).
Then they all swam beneath our ship and headed out. It was nothing less than amazing.
I try to find beauty in the everyday, primarily through my photography, which I share here. I also try to keep my brain thinking creatively every day, even if the rest of me is not in the mood, so the posts here are as much for me as they are for you.
