Rocky Mountain National Park: Elk Everywhere

Rocky Mountain National Park is famous for the elk that call it home, and they were out and about just as we hoped.  This was the first herd we saw, and included some mommas and some yearling males (you can see the little spikes on the boys, as opposed to the full rack of antlers you'd expect on the older males).  The cow in front in the third picture is the only elk we saw with a tracking collar all day, though we aren't sure exactly why she is being studied.  Anyway, they grazed along and along and we had a great time watching them for about a half an hour.
