Mountain Wildflowers

I mean to share these wildflower photos during the summer but I never got around to it.  But since it still feels like summer around here (in my mind, at least) I thought thought I'd go ahead.  Aren't they so sweet and pretty?

Looking Over The Fence

I've got lots to do today - I've got to pick up some flowers that I ordered and shoot them for a client - so I'm going to be quick on the blog here today.  This is a shot of the dusk looking over my fence at the neighbor's garage.  I don't have a great view of the sky since I live in town, but I can't help but try to shoot it anyway.

Golden Grape Leaves

In Guernsey, there are (what I think are) grape vines behind one motel.  I'm not sure why they are there or if they get harvested, but the leaves turn golden this time of year.

Best Of Summer

I know summer ended officially last week, but I was hanging on to it.  It is not that I don't like autumn, because I do, but it ushers in winter, my least favorite season.  Autumn here is so short, too - just a month, maybe a month and half before it begins to snow.  But, autumn is here whether I like it or not, so I wanted to wish summer a fond farewell, and to share my some of the best pictures I took this season.  It is hard to believe it was still spring when I went to Alaska, and it is hard to think that the apple images I took were technically during the summer.  I guess, like everything else, summer is really just a state of mind.

Apple Harvest

I think the top and bottom images in this post are my favorite ones from the four days I took photos of the apple trees.  I hope you aren't feeling apple overload, but I was just smitten with the beauty of them.  If autumn has to come (and it does) then I'm glad it brings with it something special that the other seasons don't have to offer.

Autumn Apples

Last night I sliced up apples to freeze, to make pies later on.  I also made apple crisp, my favorite of apple desserts, with fresh whipped cream.  And there are still tons of apples left on the trees.  Maybe there are apple dumplings in my future?  I think so.

Mom's Little Helpers

The dogs couldn't help but hover in the corner of the yard with the apple trees as I was taking photos.  They love to get in the way, but they are so cute I hate to put them in the house.  I mean, look at Little Bear's face.  Melts my heart.

PS - The winner of the giveaway "Sunlit Path" is CSerdan!  Thanks everyone for playing along!

Ripening Apples

A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in the back yard, reading the newspaper, and when I looked up, the corner with the apple trees was just so beautiful with the sunlight filtering through the leaves.  It was one of those moments where you see something that you look at everyday differently, so I grabbed my camera and shot and shot and shot.  I did this a few days in a row, actually, since that golden hour flew by when I was photographing it.   I usually don't share quite this many images at once, but I loved them all.

PS - Today is the last day to enter my giveaway!
