It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Wheatland, Wyoming.  I hope where ever you live, and whatever you celebrate, that things are looking merry. 

I'll be signing off for a couple of weeks as my husband and the doggies and I travel to visit with family.  It has been years since we traveled during the holidays, and we are excited to change it up and spend time with our loved ones.  I hope everyone enjoys these last few week of 2010 - I'll see you in 2011!

Last Day to Order!

I just wanted to remind everyone tommorow will be the last day to order from the Milemarker shops.  I will be closing them while we are out of town and they will reopen in January, all except for Milemarker3 which will be closing for good.

Old Grainery

I passed this old grainery on the way to the park last week when I was taking photos of the new snow.  I loved how the roof was just glazed with ice and the little birds were enjoying the morning sunshine on its peak.

Disappearing Act

Within a matter of minutes, the snow that covered the ground I was walking on disappeared.

Now you see it....

Red Berries

 

I loved how bright these red berries were against the snowy landscape, but I'm more interested in them now, looking at them again, because the berries themselves aren't encased in frost, like everything else was.  I wonder why that is.

Frosted Trail

Good morning, everyone.  Here are some more photos of my Monday morning walk through the snow.  The ground was covered in a thin layer of snow and the leaves and branches were encased in ice.  I wasn't the first to the trail, even though I was out of the door far earlier than I usually am.  There were rabbit tracks and cat paw prints all over the place.

Fresh Frost

Yesterday I woke up to a frosted world.  Everything was encased in luminous ice, and glittered in the sunlight.  I grabbed my camera and a fuzzy hat, and walked to the town park.  A lightly wooded trail winds around the edge of the park, and here too everything was covered in fresh frost.  It wrapped around every leaf, every branch, and every evergreen needle.

Eerie Trees In the Lamplight

Here are a few more photos I took on a foggy evening recently.  As neat as all the buildings looked in the fog, I kept turning my lens up toward the trees.  The light is from a streetlamp, and it looks a bit eerie, I think.

The Early Fall of Dusk

I hate that it gets dark so early this time of year.  Every day around 4:00 I glance out a window and it looks so much later.  But, at least, I never miss the sunsets now.

Delicate

Here is one more wildflower shot.  I have no idea what type of flower this is but I just loved how delicate it was, and how the new buds were pink and the open flowers were white.
