Remnants

I wish I could remember where I found this bit of discarded nature, but I  have been collecting things like this all my life.  As a kid, I had shoe boxes filled with butterfly wings, smooth stones, feathers and the like.  I still have a hard time not saving these things.  Do you do the same?  I suppose it is a wonder and appreciation for the natural world and some need to treasure these little remnants when they are found.

  1. I LOVE the patterns and colours that nature gives us :)

Growing up in England, Horse Chestnuts were a big fav. esp. with boys, to collect and play "Conkers"

It was really hard to find any left lying around but when I came to America and saw that it wasn't a popular game here, I would take my kids out to collect them, we love the shapes and their shiny surfaces :)

    Have a lovely weekend, cheers, T. :)

    1. We have a huge chestnut tree in our backyard! I don't know precisely which kind, though. Are they tasty? I am tempted to roast them over the fire. In fact, I took pix of them, too. I'll post in the near future. I am going to look up "conkers" now.

  2. What a lovely specimen! I'm a sucker for picking up little nature treasures...mostly from the beach...but I'm slightly obsessed with all the acorns falling right now too.

  3. I love acorns, too! I remember when we lived in Wyoming, my i laws came to visit and in the little nooks and crannies of their vehicle were the sweetest little acorns. I collected them and put them on display in my house, seeing as I missed oak trees and acorns.
