Wall Drug Sign

I've been thinking of a possible summer trip to Wyoming as I go through the many many photos I have from our life there.  This sign was one of the little things that made up the minutia of my days there.  I drove past it a lot, and I always thought it was for some defunct drug store in my region.  It wasn't until a few weeks before I moved away that I came to learn about the Wall Drug Store in South Dakota, one of America's great roadside attractions, and that this was one of many signs between there and, well, everywhere out West.

I loved how these pretty little wildflowers were springing forth from this old stump.  There is no reason the  old and the new can't occupy the same space harmoniously.

Happy Mother's Day!

I want to wish everyone out there a happy Mother's Day!  This year is very special since it is my first as a mother myself.  I can't even express what a joy my daughter is to me.  I've been a mom now for five months exactly, and it is still hard to put into words how special the whole experience is. 

I have been a daughter now for 32 years and again, I can't begin to tell you how wonderful my mother is.  She is the most amazing woman I know, for so many reasons.  This photo is of her holding Wyle, and it is one of my favorites.  I think grandparents must be so excited for grandchildren because they get to relive the miracle of their own children (without the sleeplessness and diapers).  I always knew my momma loved me, but I never understood just HOW MUCH she could love me until I had Wyle to love.  So thank you, momma, for giving me life and making it a beautiful one for me with all your wisdom and love.

It's a Beautiful Morning

It has been a while since I have been up early enough to photograph the rising sun.  With Wyle to attend to, I need all the sleep I can get.  This I took in Wyoming last year around this time on an early morning drive with my husband.  It speaks volumes about the promise of the day, don't you think?
