Hi all! It's March 20th again... the day when spring arrives in name if not in spirit, and the day of my birth. Am I another year wiser? When it comes to the habits of two-year-olds, yes. What else have I learned? Polka dots are fun. Buckwheat pancakes are good only in theory. Vikings make a great subject for a tv series. There are lots of beautiful old barns in upstate New York. They are hard to photograph when your child is asleep in the car and you don't want to wake her. Air conditioning is grand. So are slippers. It feels good to go for a walk in the snow. It feels just as good to enjoy hot tea afterwards. You can't go to the zoo too often. Not all cars fit in all parking garages. Porgy and Bess is kinda sad. Old Fisher-Price toys are way better than new ones. Thirty-four isn't much older than 33. In fact, I probably look less haggard this year (for getting nearly normal amounts of sleep all year). Last year was good to me, and I look forward to what this coming year brings.

I added a new print to my shop last weekend. "Up and Across" is available in a variety of sizes. This is one of the photographs I took at the Carrie Blast Furnace, one of the old steel mills here in Pittsburgh. If you'd like to see some of the other images from this shoot, see the original post here.

Life with a toddler is mostly a whirlwind, with all those quiet moments of cuddling together long gone. But every once in a while Wyle stops for a minute and I just wonder what's on her mind. Here she was jumping on the bed (which is most fun to play on when the sheets are in the wash) and then she just sat still and looked very contemplative for a moment.

Sometimes the snow is a real drag... like when you need to go out with the baby. But, other times, it is absolutely magical, drifting through the air, each flake visible against the evergreen trees in our backyard.
