Recently, I spent a wonderful winter weekend in West Virginia (say that three times fast) with some family. It was high time we learned a few winter sports, seeing as we have a lot of winter around here. We spent most of our time cross country skiing, which was a lot less scary than I thought it would be. When the trails were groomed, it was really fun. When they weren't groomed, it was more challenging and even more of an adventure. But in no way could I work a camera while keeping my balance, so there's no evidence to share. We also spent some time ice skating, which I was even more afraid to try, but again, I surprised myself with a small amount of competency!
The highlight of the trip was, of course, the amazing scenery. Blackwater Falls was partially frozen over and entirely stunning. The little towns of Davis and Thomas were full of cute shops and interesting buildings and the roads to and from were lined with snow-draped trees to stunning effect. What a nice way to spend a few days!
